Wild Food and Foraging Courses
Delve into the countryside’s wild larder with foraging expert Michael White. Learn the true meaning of seasonal food and discover gastronomic delights amongst the woods, hedgerows and pasturelands of rural Kent.
This full day hands-on workshop is run by self-sufficiency and wild food expert Michael White. He will share his lifetime of experience with you in his engaging, friendly and informative manner. Well able to cater for beginners up to expert wild food aficionados.
Michael offers very comprehensive days out in the country in traditional skills, come nourish both your soul and belly on his wild food events.
There are always lots of delicious tasters and samples, a home cooked lunch, a long foraging walk and lots of hands-on information shared!
A day course includes:
- Exploration of issues surrounding wild food and foraging
- Foraging walk discovering and identifying wild foods
- Home-cooked lunch
- Preparation of foraged food for cooking
- Cooking and sampling foraged food
Season: Courses are run from March to early May and then from October to November which corresponds with the best seasons for foraging. Spring courses principally cover edible herbs, saps, spring greens, shoots and flowers – whilst autumn courses focus on edible fungi, roots, fruit and berries.
Age: This course is not suitable for young children due to the length of the foraging walk.
There will be plenty of wild food tasters, a home cooked light lunch and drinks to sample and share together on the day.
